How to make a video of my car driving on a mountain road

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

Add a sharp three-quarter photo of your car to Rift and tell Spark the road, such as a tracking shot of the car taking a hairpin bend above the clouds at golden hour. Check the Draft, tap Make, and a video of up to 15 seconds lands in your Library. Spark keeps your car's shape and colour from the photo.

Not everyone lives near a mountain pass, and nobody wants to drive the same bend fifteen times for the right take. A photo of your car and a line about the road are enough for Spark to put it there.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Add the car. Open Rift and add the photo.
  2. Describe the road and the shot. Place, time of day and camera.
  3. Check the Draft. Spark names the shot and keeps your car as the subject.
  4. Make. Tap Make. The price is on the button first, and you can Stop anytime.
  5. Save. The video is in your Library, ready to post.

Tips for a clean result

Beyond mountains

Coast roads, desert highways, rainforest tracks, city bridges at night. For a stunt, see a car jump or drift in your own driveway photo.

Questions people ask

Will it be my exact car?

Spark copies what the photo shows. A three-quarter view in daylight with the wheels visible gives the closest match.

Can I change the road to a coast, desert or city?

Yes. Name the place, such as a coastal cliff road or a desert highway.

Can I be in the car?

Yes. Add a photo of yourself and say you are driving or leaning on the door.

Does the video show a real licence plate?

Only what the photo shows. If you want it hidden, cover the plate before you take the photo.

Can I choose the time of day?

Yes. Say dawn, sunset or night in your line to Spark.
