A clip remakes well when it has one or two clear people, a steady camera and few cuts, and a five-second look at those things before you share it into Rift saves a wasted Make. Once you have a clip, see how to remake any trend with you in it.
Good signs
- One or two clear people, fully in frame.
- A steady camera, or one smooth move: a push in, a pan, a follow.
- One continuous shot, or one stretch without cuts.
- Good light. You can see faces and hands.
- A clear moment. A move, a reveal, a reaction.
Harder clips
- Crowds. Ten dancers in a line is a lot to keep straight.
- Fast cuts. A video in Rift is one shot of up to 15 seconds, so a clip with eight cuts becomes a choice of one.
- Heavy blur, shake or dark rooms.
- Text and stickers all over. They hide the action.
- Mirrors and reflections, which double the people.
How to make a hard clip work
- Pick the moment. Tell Spark “just the part where he jumps” or “the last 6 seconds”.
- Simplify the cast. “Only the one in the middle, replace her with me.”
- Change the place on purpose. If the background is a mess, “same moves, empty street at night” can be cleaner than the original.
Lines to try with Spark
- “Only the second half, put me in it.”
- “Just the dancer in front, swap her for me, drop the others.”
- “Keep the move, make the room brighter.”
A quick test
If you can describe the clip in one sentence (“a guy walks toward the camera and the lights go out”), it’ll likely remake well. If it takes a paragraph, start with a simpler one.
