How to put your own pet in place of the animal in a viral video

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

Share the animal video into Rift, add a clear photo of your pet, and tell Spark, Rift's video agent, 'replace the cat with my cat, Miso'. Spark keeps the moment, the camera and the timing, and puts your pet's face, colours and markings in. Check the Draft and tap Make for up to 15 seconds. It works across species too: a dog in a cat video.

Share the animal clip and a photo of your pet, and Spark puts your pet in the animal’s place. It is one kind of trend remake: read what a trend remake is.

Step by step

Tips

Questions people ask

Does my pet need to be the same breed?

No. A tabby can replace a black cat, and a dog can replace a cat.

Can I use a clip from a Reel or a Short?

Yes. Tap Share on the clip and pick Rift, or save it and add it from your camera roll.

Can I swap two animals?

Yes. Add both pets and say which replaces which.

What if the animal is tiny in the frame?

Pick clips where the animal fills a good part of the frame for the best match.
