What is the product teardown video trend and how do you make one?

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

The product teardown video shows an item pulling apart into its pieces in mid-air, then snapping back together, usually on a dark background. It lets a seller show what is inside. In Rift, add a clear photo of your product, tell Spark the teardown, check the Draft and tap Make for a video of up to 15 seconds.

The teardown is a product reveal with an exploded view. A shoe pulls apart: sole, laces, insole, upper. The parts float, turn and return. It shows craft without a factory tour.

How the format works

Why sellers like it

It makes a plain item look like a designed object. A leather wallet shows its stitching, a backpack shows its layers, a speaker shows its parts. It also gives a buyer a reason to watch twice.

Make your own in Rift

  1. Open Rift and add a clear photo of your product.
  2. Tell Spark: “My leather wallet pulling apart into layers in mid-air, then coming back together, black background.”
  3. Check the Draft and tap Make.
  4. Find the video in your Library.

Ideas for a new take

Keep it honest

The parts are styled. Describe the real materials in your listing.
