How to make an AI Christmas card video of your family from a photo

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

Add a photo of each person in your family to Rift and tell Spark the Christmas scene, such as everyone around a tree with snow at the window. Spark sets up a Draft with the price on the Make button. Tap Make and share a card video of up to 15 seconds from your Library. Rift is an iPhone app.

Add a photo of each family member, even if they live in different places, and tell Spark the Christmas scene. Spark puts everyone around one tree in a video of up to 15 seconds.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Open Rift and describe the card. For example: everyone around a lit tree, snow falling outside.
  2. Add the photos. Pick each person from your camera roll. For people you will use again, save them as characters from a few photos.
  3. Say who stands where. One line is enough: grandma in the armchair, kids by the tree.
  4. Check the Draft. Spark shows the plan. Ask for a change if the room or the mood is off.
  5. Make. Tap Make, leave the app if you like, and find the card in your Library. Share it in a message or a group chat.

Questions people ask

When is Christmas this year?

Friday 25 December 2026. Make your card a week early so you can try a second version.

Do I need everyone in one photo?

No. Separate photos work, even from different years or different cities. Spark brings them into the same scene.

Can I include our dog or cat?

Yes. Add a photo of the pet and say where they sit, for example on the sofa in a red scarf.

Can I write a message on the card?

Rift does not add text over video yet. Write your message in the message or post you send with the video.

Can we all wear Christmas jumpers?

Yes. Say what each person wears, or add a photo of the outfit.
