How to make a workout demo video without filming yourself

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

Add a photo of yourself in workout clothes in Rift and tell Spark, Rift's video agent, the move, such as a slow bodyweight squat in a bright gym. Spark plans the shot and shows a Draft. Tap Make and you get a demo video of up to 15 seconds, saved to your Library, ready to post for clients or followers.

Filming a clean demo takes a tripod, a free gym and ten takes. A photo of you in your kit, and a clear line about the move, can get you a clip to post today. For repeat use, see turn a trend into a format you can reuse.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Add your photo in Spark.
  2. Describe one move. Name the starting position and what moves.
  3. Name the place and the light. A bright studio is easy to read.
  4. Check the Draft. Ask for a slower move or a side angle.
  5. Make. Tap Make and find it in your Library. The price is shown on the Make button before you tap.

Tips

Questions people ask

Is this a safe way to teach form?

It is a picture of a move, not coaching. Check form with a qualified coach before you teach it to others.

Can I show a whole workout?

A video is one shot of up to 15 seconds, so show one move per video and make a few.

Can I add the exercise name on screen?

Text over the video isn't in the app yet. Add the name when you post.

Can I use a trainer or client in it?

Yes, with their OK. Add their photo as a character.
