How to make a gender reveal video from a photo

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

Add a photo of you and your partner in Rift and tell Spark, Rift's video agent, the reveal, such as a cloud of blue or pink powder bursting behind you in a garden. Spark plans the shot and shows a Draft. Tap Make and you get a reveal video of up to 15 seconds to share with family.

Add a photo of the family and tell Spark the reveal, such as a powder burst or a popping balloon. You get a short video to share with relatives near and far. For a different kind of news, see a baby or pregnancy announcement video.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Add your photo in Spark.
  2. Say the reveal and the colour. For example, “blue powder burst.”
  3. Check the Draft. Ask for a place, like a garden or a living room.
  4. Make. Tap Make. The price is shown on the Make button before you tap.
  5. Share from your Library when you are ready to tell people.

Tips

Questions people ask

Can I keep the result secret?

Yes. The video stays in your Library until you share it.

Can I make both a blue and a pink version?

Yes. Ask Spark for another version with the other colour. Share only the one that is true.

Can I put in my baby's ultrasound?

You can add a photo of it as a reference. Keep the video itself to the reveal.

Can I add a countdown on screen?

Text over the video isn't in the app yet. Count down out loud when you share it.
