How to turn your trip photos into a short travel video

Updated · Reviewed by The Rift team

Short answer

Pick your best trip photo, add it in Rift, and tell Spark, Rift's video agent, what should move: waves rolling in, lanterns swaying, you turning to the camera. Spark keeps the place as you shot it and plans the camera. Tap Make for a video up to 15 seconds. Make one per photo for a set of moments from the trip.

Add your best trip photo and tell Spark what should move, such as waves, lanterns or the wind in the flags. Rift makes a video of up to 15 seconds from it.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Pick one photo with something that could move: water, people, lights, trees.
  2. Add it in Rift and tell Spark what moves.
  3. Add yourself if you want to walk into a view you shot alone.
  4. Check the Draft and tap Make.
  5. Repeat for your top three to five photos, then post them as a set.

Tips

Questions people ask

Can I join several photos into one video?

Each Make is one shot. Make one per photo and put them together in your posting app.

Will it change the place?

Say "keep the place as in the photo" and Spark only adds movement.

Can I put myself in a photo I took of the view?

Yes. Add a photo of you too and say "me walking into this view".

What about old trip photos?

Old prints work. Scan or photograph them flat, and ask Spark to restore them first if they're faded.
