A drawer of old prints often means creases, fading and a tear across the corner. Restoring one used to take hours in an editing app. In Rift you describe the damage and check the result.
What you need
- An iPhone with Rift.
- The print, photographed flat in daylight from straight above, with no glare.
- A short list of what is wrong.
Step by step
- Photograph the print. Lay it on a plain table by a window. Shoot straight on and crop to the edges.
- Add the photo to Rift.
- Tell Spark the damage. Name it plainly.
- Check the Draft. Up to 4 versions can be made at once. The price is on the Make button.
- Tap Make, choose the cleanest and save it to Library.
Lines to try with Spark
- “Restore this photo. Remove scratches and the crease across the middle.”
- “The left corner is torn off. Rebuild it to match the background.”
- “Fix the fading and bring back the contrast, keep the faces exactly as they are.”
- “Remove the water stain in the top right.”
Tips
- Scan quality sets the ceiling. A sharp, even photo of the print gives a sharper restore.
- Do one repair at a time if a version looks off. Fix the tear, then the fading.
- Compare faces with the original. Choose the version that looks most like the person.
- Go further. Add colour with colourise a black and white family photo or move it with bring it to life.
